Collaboration can be tricky business, especially when multiple people are editing the same documents at once. In the past, an updated version would have to be sent to all relevant individuals and they in turn would have to resend their updated version as the process moved along. Sync.In makes it possible for users to maintain one version that is always completely up to date. The application is a web based word processor. Multiple users can log in and make changes to documents that are immediately available to anyone else who accesses the document. A desktop launcher is available that allows users to create new Sync.In notes from their desktop. Desktop users can also access the smartbar to search for items using IDs, filters and quick search features for note lists, and team note views. Sync.In was founded in April of 2010 created by Cynapse. Cynapse is a software developer that was founded in April of 2001. The company has locations in Mumbai, India and Wilmington, Delaware. The current Cynapse team consists of around 30 individuals, including CEO Apurva Roy Choudhury, CTO Dhiraj Gupta, COO Viraf Sarkari and Business Director Romasha Roy Choudhury. Along with Sync.In, Cynapse also created SyncNotes, Cyn.In, and Transplug.
There are many other web based word processors available out there. Sync.In is much the same, but takes the service to another level. Users can enjoy the stylish website and many functions available through Sync.In. It is not so much a simple word pad as a collaboration device that makes it much easier to work on documents as a group.
The Sync.In website takes on a very professional feel with a grey background and hints of subtle green found in the logo and throughout the website. It is overall very stylish without becoming cluttered or detracting from the professional nature of the application. The document editing tools are easy to understand and quick to learn so any user can easily add their input or updates.
Visitors can become Sync.In users by clicking the blue “Get Sync.In Pro” button along the right hand side of the homepage. A second green button can be found along the left hand side for users who do not wish to sign up. This button allows the user to create a new public note. This is essentially a watered down version of the application. Those who choose to sign up for Pro will be asked to supply a desired Sync.In URL. The user can also choose a 30 day free trial or begin paying for the service right away. The free trial does not require any credit card information. Next, the user is asked to provide a number of individuals who will be accessing the account (a minimum of five is required). The last step asks for the users information, including a name, company name, email address, mailing address, zip code, country location and password.
Cynapse has kept billing for Sync.In very easy to understand and affordable. There are no membership tiers, only one type. The user pays around $2 for each individual included on their account per month. Since the site requires a five user minimum, that is around $10 per month or more for a Pro membership.
Sync.In provides a very valuable service to anyone who frequently collaborates on documents. The site is ideal for professionals and companies who want something that looks good and can do everything they need in terms of document conferencing and collaboration.
